INITIATION into the EARTH MYSTERIES of ENGLAND and SCOTLANDIncluding the Holy Isles of Orkney and IonaAugust 14 - 27, 2001
Our magical Journey through these "Emerald Isles" will bring us to the roots of the Celtic Mystery Traditions and communion with the ancient Gods alive in nature and in the soul of her people. We will follow the Path of the Holy Grail, or Divine Wisdom, from Avebury to the Isle of Avalon, from the inner circle of Stonehenge to the stone circles of Castle Rigg and Long Meg in the Lake District and on to explore the mysterious Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae and other sacred sites from the Neolithic period on the Orkney Isles, culminating our quest for wholeness on Iona ~ the Holy Isle of the Druids.
ITINERARYThe focus of our Celtic Mystery Tour through England and Scotland in August will now include rituals of healing for the land, the animals, and the humans affected by hoof and mouth disease. As many of you know, I conduct a yearly tour through England and Scotland and have a deep love for -- and connection to-- the Celtic Mysteries. This year, the heartbreaking destruction of animals and the grief of landowners and farmers calls us to direct the rituals of our Sacred Journey to their healing. Please come and join our circle of healers, friends, and light-workers as we travel the path of healing through this ancient Celtic land.
From Glastonbury, we travel north to the Lake District in the southwest part of Cumbria, considered by many to be the most beautiful landscape in England. Here we will stay in a lovely hotel overlooking Lake Windemere, where we can truly commune with the spirit of the place and the timeless beauty of the lake. Additional highlights are a visit to the Castle Rigg stone circle in Keswick - a Bronze Age sanctuary situated within a natural amphitheater formed by the surrounding hills - and the stone circle of Long Meg and her Daughters - the largest circle in northern England, 360 feet in diameter. From the Lake District we head north to Inverness, driving through the most breath-taking countryside of the Scottish Highlands, stopping en route at Clava cairns, a group of three passage graves surrounded by stone circles from Neolithic times. Scotland is rich in ancient sites where Pictish stones with magical markings leave reminders of a race deeply connected to the elements and nature. Leaving the mainland, we take a ferry to the Orkneys ~ a place out of time where darkness and light meet! Here the fairy kingdom is alive, forever changing like the sky, full of hidden mysteries with a dreamlike quality and echoes of forgotten worlds. For 3 days we will explore many of the ancient sites on this unspoiled island, like the well-preserved Neolithic settlements of Skara Brae and Maes Howe. Inside the huge passage grave of Maes Howe one can read the runic inscription carved on the stones: "A long time ago was a great treasure hidden here. Lucky will be he who can find the great fortune." We are left to wonder if a physical treasure is all the creator left behind to be discovered. The highlight of our journey will be our Initiation inside the Ring of Brodgar (Temple of the Sun) and the Stennes Standing Stones (Temple of the Moon). These needles of stones are activation points of the higher chakras and inter-dimensional doorways. From the Orkney Isles we take the ferry back to the mainland. Driving through the Highlands of Scotland will bring us to the Isle of Iona - the Holy Isle of the Druids and a Celtic sanctuary of old. Iona is a place of the heart, a place of pure love, the mirror of our soul where the Divine Feminine, Sophia, can be re-experienced and embraced. For a few timeless days we will have a chance to wander around the island and enter the sanctuary of our own inner being. Here is where the true seeker can find the answer to the ancient Grail question: "Whom does the Grail serve?"
